Krabi, Thailand

After spending Christmas in Phuket and being joined by my little sister, Netty, we decided to jump on a boat and head to Krabi for New Year. This was a last minute decision as we hadn't made any plans and we wanted to go somewhere we both hadn't been before. Sometimes last minute decisions end up being the best decisions you make...sometimes they end up having the worst journey ever to get there - I might do another post about that!

When we eventually arrived in Krabi, I knew that we had made the right choice. I absolutely loved it and we ended up staying for nearly a week.

We stayed in Ao Nang, which is only a ten minute taxi ride away from Krabi pier. The beach here is nice and there are a few decent beach bars and restaurants but the beach can get extremely busy and hot as there isn't much shade.

From Ao Nang beach you can take a long tail boat to many of the small islands in the area, and also to Railay beach, which is part of the mainland but only accessible by boat. We took a boat for 200B each and set off in search of some of the best beaches in Thailand...according to Tripadvisor!

Railay beach was beautiful and had a chilled atmosphere.

After a quick swim to cool down we wandered through the walking street...

...and then followed a path to the east side of Railay, past rock climbers, caves and monkeys!

Then we found ourselves on another beach called Tonsai. This beach was stunning.. limestone cliffs rising out of the crystal clear waters, bliss!

When you get hungry, you can head over to the ladies selling sandwiches from their boats.

After an afternoon relaxing on the beach, we got one of these guys to take us back to Ao Nang...

I got you on my blog, Netty!! (She hates having her picture taken)

We stayed in two different places in Ao Nang. One of them was Green Hill Resort which was only a short walk to the beach and main street. I definitely recommend staying here. The bamboo huts are the cheapest option and include a free breakfast. The location of this place is stunning too!

I had a great time exploring Krabi, I don't know why it has taken me until now to visit. Always take chances...what's the worst that could happen.
