Koh Lanta, Thailand

Next stop on the island hopping, Koh Lanta.

One of the bigger islands in the south of Thailand, Koh Lanta is easily reached by ferry from Phi Phi, Phuket and Krabi. Or a 4 hour speed boat from Koh Lipe, which is where we travelled from.

Koh Lanta is one of my favourite islands to visit, I have been many times over the last few years. It's more laid back than some of the other islands but you can still find beach parties and fire shows, if you know where to look.

We stayed at Thai Beach House on long beach, which is located directly on the beach. We spent most of our days walking along the huge stretch of white sand and enjoying 'happy hour' in many of the beach bars.

I've never really seen much outside of Long Beach, so Sarah and I decided to hire scooters for the day to explore the rest of the island.

We hired our scooters at the place we were staying for 250 Baht, bargain! We handed our passports in and then set off into the mountains.

** I wrote this blog post before I heard about the girl fighting for her life after a scooter crash in Chiang Mai. Although they are cheap and great for sightseeing, driving a scooter in Thailand can be extremely dangerous, especially in busy cities. We wore our helmets and didn't drive in the dark. If you hire a scooter, be careful! **

We stopped off at the old town...

...and enjoyed a fresh fruit shake.

Then we wandered around the streets of the old town which was full of quaint little gift shops.

Sarah was already out of gas so a friendly Thai man helped us refill as we had no clue what we were supposed to do (typical girls). Sarah actually broke down later on in the day and had to push her bike for miles to find gas. I didn't take any photos of that!

We continued our journey around the island, stopping off to admire the views on the way and take photos.

We drove to the south west of the island and stopped at Bamboo Bay.

A perfect place to enjoy a late lunch at the only bar on this beautiful beach.

After lunch, we headed back up the west coast, stopping at a few more beaches on the way...

and arrived back at long beach just in time to enjoy the incredible sunset...

A great few days in Koh Lanta, as always.

Namaste x
